Marrington Mdidle Reviews

I have a child entering the 8th grade at Marrington and a 'newbie' going into 6th grade. I was never aprehensive about my older child being at Marrington because I knew many of the faculty. I am even more at ease with my younger beginning. Thanks to all the faculty and staff at Marrington Middle for the great job they do each day!

My daughter is in her second year at Marrington Middle School and I love it. I think that the small classroom size coupled with experienced teachers have the recipe for success in all aspects!

I am a current student at Marrington. I love the school and think it's a great school. The teachers are very kind and great. We participate in activities such as plays, mocktrial, and much more. More thanks goes to Mrs. Morrison for not giving up on me at my mocktrial auditions. We've won regionals two years in a row ever since we started mocktrial.

My daughter has been attending Marrington Middle since 2005. She started there when they still had the 4th grade attending the school. At first I was very apprehensive about my 9 year old going to school with potential freshmen kids. The idea of bullying and sexual harrassment was a little overwhelming. However, the school is very good about keeping the 'older' kids basically out of sight from the younger kids and vice versa. Over the last two years my daughter has opened up as a young lady and her grades have improved tremendously. The Arts program has made a huge difference in this school and I know of several families around me that are trying really hard to get their kids into this school seeing as how it is now an 'application' school.

I was a student at Marringto Elementary & Middle schools for most of 8 years and now that I'm in a different school I found that Marrington gave me what I needed to survive in real life and much more. Mr. Morrison (7th/8th grade teacher)is a great teacher and I loved that she enriched us with the opportunity to participate in an activity such as MOCK TRIAL(learn more if you plan on going to Marrington).

I am pleased that my child attends this small developing School of the Arts. Student have an exciting opportunity to learn/perform with the school chorus, dance, jazz band and strings ensemble. Visiting artists from the area and members of the Charleston Symphony and Orchestra support the creative learning environment. The principal, dedicated school counselors, and teachers are committed to preparing students and parents for the 'clusters of study' and 'Individual Graduation Plan' (IGP). Regardless of which SC middle school you select for your child, be sure you understand the IGP and the Education and Economic Development Act of 2005 which dramatically affects all SC middle and high school programs.

I love the fact that the school is so small. The teachers are great.

2005-2006 was the first year that my son went to Marrington Middle School. I have no idea why some of the previous posting were so negative because I would rate this as a outstanding school. Warm principals, teachers, students..everyone was great. I transfered my son from Sedgefield and the had I had it to do over again I would! The teachers care about their students and stay in contact with the parents.

My son was lost in this school upon attending 5th grade. Most of the teachers just don't care. The bullying and violence is out of control and the principal and vice principal have their heads in the clouds. When my son was picked on, nothing was done to the aggressors but when he fought back, he was punished. You have to teach the whole child. That means they can be the best student and still be failing because they are unhappy. This school just doesn't cut it and should be looked at seriousely by the school board!

My daughter really excelled at Marrington. Her teacher let her work above the level of the other children in her class, so she never got bored.

Out of the six schools my child has attended so far during her father's Naval career, this school is by far the worst in every aspect. So much so that we're spending over 10k to send her somewhere else next year. For the first time in her life,I fear for her safety because of lack of administrative attention. I fear for the overall quality of her education dropping off the radar screen. No field trips. NO after school extracurricular activities. Low PTA membership (Approximately fifteen families joined.) I myself witnessed a cussing irrational custodian threatening PTA members in front of children. By far Marrington Middle School is the BEST reason NOT to live in base housing at the Naval Weapons Station Charleston.

I am a student at marrington middle school. the teacher quality is very poor with the exception of a very select few. The teachers do not really help the students when they ask for it. Many kids here really just don't care about their education. there are absolutely no extra-curricular activities available. The teachers give far too many detentions and suspensions to kids who don't understand what they are learning. Marrington is just a very poor quality school.

This is the worst school that I have ever attended. There are no extra-curricular activites and a very limited amount of elective classes. There are no field trips for students at all during the year. This school goes from the 4th to 8th grades and has a very small population. Do not consider the small population as a positive like I first did. The teachers still do not work one on one with the students and the parent-teacher connection is very limited. This school does not believe in teaching you things that you will need to know later on in life, only things that will make you pass the end of year test to make the school look good. The library has a very limited selection of books and none of interest to any of the students. The only positive trait of this school is the high amount of parent involvement.

Marrington has an excellent enviroment with wonderful understanding teaching staff.
